it's started...

homeschooling that is!! we've been at it 'officially' for two weeks now. i decided to start amelya now because...well because that is what i thought was best for us and our family. and that's the beauty of homeschooling. :0) the curriculum we're using is My Father's World. it is so far a great fit for our family. breigh is joining in on the stuff that will work for her. and amelya is in the kindergarten level. ((because after researching...i was already doing kindergarten level things with her.)) here are some pictures of our day today.

for the first ten days you learn about creation and introduce two or three letters of the alphabet to get them 'prepared' so i made up a game for amelya to match the upper and lowercase letters...

k! mommy!! k!! is what she is telling me here. this has been all a review for her because she knows all of her letters ((and has finally mastered the difference between b and d!!)) but she loves the game aspect. (i have NO idea where she gets that from...)

for the first seven days  you talk about each day of creation and then we're turning ours into a book. here's amelya's cover. i LOVE her backwards N and Y's. :0) yes we'll work on those when we get there. but for now...i'm loving the stage we're at!! ((by the way the people on her cover are her and daddy(green) and that big red blob on her, is her tongue...waiting to eat the blue lollypop!))

and here she is with the pages of her book. the girls LOVED doing this part of each day. and i LOVE their creativity. day 2 was sky and water. notice the pink sky? in amelya's words...the sky is pink in the afternoon...i couldn't argue (and wasn't going to bring up how god hadn't created the sun...we just went with it!) i also love the palm tree on day three. on day seven you weren't supposed to color anything because god rested. but my girls were so cute...they wanted to draw god resting. so day seven is god resting in bed!! it's the GREATEST!!

here's breigh being oh so cute! waiting for amelya to get done matching up her letters. ((breigh worked on recognizing each uppercase letter. and has almost mastered all of them!!))

breigh's cover to her book. i dotted out the title but left the name writing up to her. i'm so proud of her accomplishments over the past two weeks. she can now write her name all by herself. i just have to tell her what letter is next and explain how to write some of them. i'm so proud of her!! she is a way different learner than amelya is so it's interesting to see how i need to help her versus amelya. but we're doing well so far. and i'm so blessed to have the opportunity to take that one on one time she needs and may not get in a classroom setting.

breigh's book. she did so great. as you can see on day three she just got sick of it and glued a whole bunch of paper on her paper. but i didn't care. because it really did have meaning to her. she had an explanation for each pink piece. and THAT is all that matters! she also drew god resting on day seven. so cute!!

so there's some of it. i wanted to post mainly because i haven't in almost a week!! i have been to the chiro twice since last friday and i'm still getting headaches, but the intensity has gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down. so that is SO nice. and when i take tylenol it actually helps. so that is also SO nice!!

i need to catch up on your guys' blogs though!! i've been off of the computer a lot with my headaches because the screen makes it worse. so i'm still here and kicking!!

i did take a belly picture this weekend. i feel like all of a sudden i look pregnant. and i said that to shaun the other day...his response...i noticed but didn't want to say anything, lol. i think he didn't want me to feel fat. that's the nice thing about BEING pregnant, i can't feel fat...it's the perfect reason to be all cute and have a belly. i LOVE it. :0) so here's the picture. and i'm off to help make supper. ((we're having grilled cheese.. and shaun IS the grilled cheese maker. he's way better than me! :0) ))

14 loving words from you.:

i've already told you this but you look great! it sounds like home schooling is working great for you and in a few years i'll probably have a lot of questions for you! (i've started thinking about it already! which seems a bit early but we'll see how it goes) i can't wait to introduce you to Lillyanna!

Yay for homeschooling! Isn't it so much fun to see their little personalities shine through.

And, I must say that you are SUPER confident to post photos of your belly. I would NEVER. After it being stretched to ten-buck-two (where is that anyway) and back w/ the twins.

Brave woman. Brave, brave, brave.

Their books are so cute...sounds like homeschooling is going great! Can I share something I learned when teaching my boys their letters...I read somewhere that it is better to try and teach kiddos how to write the name in the correct upper and lowercase letters instead of all uppercase. I found this out the hard way, because Henry learned his name in all uppercase letters and then struggled to write it correctly when he started school. Just wanted to share:)
My hubbby is the grilled cheese maker in our house too...his are always way better than mine!

Homeschooling sounds like fun! Not for me since I'm a teacher at a Christian school right now, but it would be fun to do some homeschooling things with my children in the future!
